Allowance for the child going to school for the first time (school allowance)

Applications for allowance for the child going to school for the first time are accepted within 3 months from the beginning of the academic year (in September, October and November). E-applications can be submitted from 12 September in the state portal.The allowance for the child going to school for the first time is awarded to a parent, guardian or caretaker of a child, provided at least one of the parents has been living in Tallinn according to the Population Register at least a year before the child goes to schooll and the child is a citizen of Tallinn according to the Population Register, lives at the same address than the applicant of the allowance and starts learning at a school in Tallinn. The allowance is awarded on the basis of the confirmed lists of the pupils of the school.The allowance (320 euros) is paid in two parts: 50% when the child is going to school and 50% in June after finishing first class provided the applicant of allowance and the child are continuously the citizens of the City of Tallinn according to the Population Register, live at the same address and the child studies at a school in Tallinn.
