To decide on the caregiver's application the social worker from the Social Welfare Department of the local district administration will pay a home visit and fills out the evaluation document for care need and in case of need the social worker can include specialists. The director or the deputy head of the social welfare department decides on the allocation or denial of the carer’s allowance, based on the care need evaluation document and the carer's suitability, pursuant to conditions prescribed by a regulation within one month since the application was submitted. The carer is paid 240 EEK per month when taking care of a person with a severe disability and in case of profound disability the allowance is 400 EEK per month. The form is available here.
