Provision of foster care to a child

An orphan and a child without parental care, who is under 18, will be referred to foster care. Local social welfare department will decide upon the foster care for the child. Foster care contract will be concluded with the carer. The carer must pass a training acknowledged by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Tallinn Social Welfare and Health Care Department will keep records on children in foster care and trainings for carers and they also organise information days, seminars and self-care groups for carers.
