Supporting services for families

The purpose of the provided services is to restore the strength of the family, prevent/overcome crisis situations and improve the relationships in the family and support the coping of low income families. The services are provided to persons registered in the population register as residents of Tallinn, and who need the help due to their family situation.

Counselling of families is carried out in various forms:

  1. Support groups for the parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (Estonian Children’s Fund);
  2. Support groups for divorcing or divorced parents (Estonian Children’s Fund);
  3. Development of parental skills, incl. counselling of pregnant teenagers and teenage parents (MTÜ Caritas Eesti);
  4. Training for private individuals “My relationship is in my hands” (MTÜ Caritas Eesti);
  5. Assembling the schoolbag sets and delivering these for free to the children of families with coping difficulties (Tallinn Association of the Red Cross);
  6. Day centre service for the children of families with unstable situations (MTÜ Lastekeskus Tähetorn);
  7. Parental skill promotion and family counselling (Family Centre of Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church);

Where to start

Generally, the child protection official of the social welfare department of the local district gives the referral to the service. However, some services can also be accessed directly: 1. Support groups for the parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); 2. Support groups for divorcing or divorced parents, 3. Psychological and pastoral counselling.

Personal identification

You should bring an identity document and the referral letter, if available.
