Restoring support for areas of cultural and environmental importance

"Vana maja korda" is a campaign for the appreciation of Tallinn's historical urban regions, started by the Cultural Heritage Department in 2001. The overall aim of the campaign is to promote sustainable attitude towards constructed environment and to help people to realize the advantages of living in an old house or in a region of cultural and environmental importance. The aim of restoration benefit allocation is to stimulate the preservation of authentic environment, architecture and used materials in a historic urban space and the application of the principles of sustainable development in Tallinn, by promoting the execution of specific work. Culture and Heritage Department

Where to start
Fill out the application which is available here. The application must be submitted with necessary additional materials before the work has commenced.
The application has to be annexed with:
1) at least 2 (two) different price offers for planned restoration and renovation works;
2) photos of the components and the building that will be renovated;
3) assessment on the technical conditions of the components that will be restored;
4) a written expert opinion on the technical condition of components by a specialist with a heritage conservation activity license or by a contractual restorer of the Cultural Heritage Department, if some original components will be replaced;
5) working drawings of replacable components;
6) an explanation letter and working drawings of important nodes if roof covering will be replaced;

What to do with the form
Send the application with necessary additional materials to Anneli.Jyristo [ät] tallinnlv.ee
 
Result
The assessment committee will review suitable applications at least once a qurter and more frequently if necessary.
The Cultural Heritage Department informs the applicant of the decision of the assessment committee, incl. the amount of allocated benefit or the reasons why the application was denied, in two weeks, following the making of the decision.
Positive funding decision of the assessment committe is valid for two months, following from the decision making day, during which the applicant has the possibility to conclude a formal contract with the Cultural Heritage Department. If the benefit applicant does not conclude the contract during this time period or the parties do not reach an agreement concerning contract conclusion, the benefit applicant loses the right to conclude the contract and the processing for benefit application is terminated.
The benefit is paid to the applicant after the works, described in the contract, have been finished and the final report has been approved.
Contracts concluded during the financial year, have to be finished and the final reports have to be confirmed by 1st of December of the same financial year.
