Disabled child allowance

A child is eligible for the disabled child allowance if all of the following criteria are met:

  • his place of residence is the City of Tallinn,
  • he is not more than 16 years old,
  • he has a certified disability,
  • the place of residence of at least one of his parents has continuously been the City of Tallinn at least since 1 January of the calendar year preceding the year of allowance application,
  • the parent living at the same address as the child has filed the application.

Application – as from 2020 the parent whose place of residence according to the Population Register is the same as the child’s must file a one-off application. We advise filing the application before the 15th day of the child’s birth month. This is to ensure that the allowance is paid in the child’s birth month the same year that the application was filed. If the application is filed after the 15th day of the birth month the allowance will be paid within 30 days of filing the application.

Awarding – the allowance is awarded in the birth month provided that all eligibility criteria continue to be met.

Payment – the allowance is paid once per calendar year in the child’s birth month provided all eligibility criteria (incl. eligible disability) continue to be met.

In 2020, the disabled child allowance will be EUR 100.
