Buildings
The City Archives are housed in three buildings – Tolli 4, 6 and 8.
The largest of these, Tolli 8 is the former Customs and Packing House (designed by the architect Johann Caspar Mohr) in Early Classicist style.
The city residence of Peter the Great once occupied the same location.
Tolli 6 was initially a private residence, probably constructed at the end of the 14th century.
Tolli 4 consists of two buildings built in the first half of the 15th century, but was probably reworked as a common residence in the second half of the 18th century.
As architectural landmarks, Tolli 4 and Tolli 6 are under heritage protection.
