Conditions of the "Bike to School" support

As part of the new measure "Bike to School", a parent can apply for a subsidy of up to 100 euros for the purchase of a bicycle for children aged 10-15 with a cyclist driving license. 

About the support

  • The amount of support per child is up to 100 euros. 
  • The support is one-time. 
  • The support is provided by the city (the total budget for the support is 100 000 euros). 
 

Who can apply? 

The subsidy is paid to the child's parent or guardian to cover the costs of the bicycle purchased for the child. 
A one-time subsidy for the purchase of a bicycle for a child aged 10-15 is eligible if: 
  • Child´s cyclist driving license was issued in the year of application; 
  • the purchase invoice for the bicycle has been issued in the year of applying; 
  • the place of residence of the child and at least one parent according to the population register is the city of Tallinn without interruption since at least January 1 of the year of applying; 
  • the place of residence (entered in the population register) of the parent who applied for the support is the city of Tallinn.
 

How to apply?

  • Applications will be accepted on August 1, 2022. 
  • The parent whose place of residence in the population register is the city of Tallinn needs to apply. (If the application is submitted by the guardian, the requirements for the residence are not applied to the parent.) 
  • A copy of the bicycle purchase invoice and a copy of the cyclist driving license must be submitted with the support application. 
  • The application for support can be submitted at the Tallinn e-service at taotlen.tallinn.ee, digitally signed by e-mail or signed on paper. 
  • The subsidy is paid within 30 calendar days from the approval of the application if all the conditions of the subsidy are met and the city´s budget has the means to pay the subsidy. 
  • Support applications are processed by the Tallinn Board of Education.

It is also worth checking with your child's school about the possibility of taking the exam. Many schools organize courses at least once a year and allow you to take the exam.
