Beamline Accelerator, in collaboration with Baltic Innovation Agency and Sparkup Tartu Science Park, launches the new "Energy | Climate" acceleration program for Cleantech startups funded by KIK
Beamline Accelerator, in cooperation with the Baltic Innovation Agency and Sparkup Tartu Science Park, invites startups to apply for a new green accelerator to contribute to green reform goals and mitigate the impact of climate change. The "Energy | Climate Focus" accelerator offers startups a non-equity investment of €100,000 to develop strategic solutions in energy, construction, and climate change adaptation. Applications for the program have already started and can be submitted on the website www.beamline.fund/energy. The application period lasts until mid-September, after which the active work phase begins with the selected startups."Construction and energy are among the most important sectors for the green transition. To make buildings and energy solutions more efficient, billions need to be invested in the construction and energy sectors. The green transition is, on one hand, a cost, but on the other hand, it is a rapidly growing economic sector. We believe that startups can help implement the green transition faster and better with new technologies and ideas. Supporting innovative solutions means more jobs and a better living environment in Estonia in the long run," commented Pirko Konsa, a member of the board of Tartu Science Park.
In its long-term development strategy "Estonia 2035," Estonia has set the goal of being a climate-neutral country with a competitive, knowledge-based society and economy by 2050. Estonia's green reform goals are set to meet the obligations of the European Green Deal while ensuring the competitiveness of its economy and the well-being of its people.
The three goals of the green reform are:
- Reducing negative environmental impacts,
- Shaping a modern and high-quality living environment,
- Contributing to the development of competitive and environmentally friendly businesses.
According to Beamline CEO Jana Budkovskaja, this is a historic turning point where the critical importance of innovation and thus startups for mitigating climate impacts is understood at the highest political level. "The accelerator with three focuses is an excellent opportunity for startups – the program, mentorship, and relevant international contacts help develop both the product and the business model so that truly impactful and critical solutions can succeed in the market. We are looking for startups developing hardware and software products or services in energy, construction, and climate change adaptation. For the best companies selected for the accelerator, we offer business and product development services worth up to €100,000," added Budkovskaja.
As part of the "Energy | Climate Focus" program, startups will have access to mentorship from leading experts in the cleantech field, participate in seminars and workshops, and receive help entering international markets and obtaining funding. Additionally, startups can acquire necessary business and product development services to raise their technological readiness level (TRL) and investment attractiveness. The accelerator, launched by Beamline, Baltic Innovation Agency, and Sparkup Tartu Science Park, is a great opportunity for startups looking to bring real change to the world of green technologies, and we invite everyone who shares the values of sustainable development and innovation to participate.
The "Energy | Climate Focus" accelerator program, launched by Beamline Accelerator, Baltic Innovation Agency, and Sparkup Tartu Science Park, is funded by the Environmental Investment Centre (KIK) under the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) based on Estonia's recovery plan. It offers startups a unique opportunity to accelerate the development and implementation of green technologies.
