For two consecutive weekends (14–15 May and 21–22 May), the residents of Tallinn once again have a convenient opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste produced in the household in an environmentally friendly way, free of charge. In addition to hazardous waste, for the first time on the same collection route, you can give away any items you don’t need that are in good condition and that could still be useful to someone else. The vehicle that collects reusable items will be accompanying the vehicle that accepts hazardous waste at the stops that fall on the hour. Numerous new stops have been added to the route this spring. packaging containing and contaminated with hazardous substances; power banks and batteries, inc. lead-acid batteries; expired medicine; paint, lacquer, glue and solvent residue; oils and fats, other lubricants; absorbents, filter materials, contaminated rags and protective equipment, etc.; oil filters and antifreeze residue; infectious sharp waste (e.g. old syringes); gardening toxins and fertiliser residues, pesticides; chemical residues (acids, alkali, photographic chemicals and other household chemicals); detergents containing dangerous substances; waste containing mercury (e.g. old thermometers, fluorescent lamps and energy saving light bulbs); old electrical and electronical equipment.

books; crockery and other kitchen supplies; clothes and other home textiles; toys; footwear; hobby and sport supplies; music and movie materials (DVD, VHS, etc.); furnishing items (decorations, figurines, tablecloths, etc.); accessories (jewellery, bags, belts, glasses, etc.); smaller functional electronics (hair dryer, toaster, kettle, blender, microwave, etc.)

Larger usable items such as car seats and cradles, furniture, bicycles and functional appliances (e.g. refrigerators, cookers) will not be accepted during the collection route. They can be taken to the re-use warehouse at the Paljassaare waste treatment plant or to the NGO Re-Use Centre shops. The items picked up during the collection route will be handed over to the Re-Use Centre, who will repurpose the items. Hazardous waste is forwarded to Epler & Lorenz AS for recycling and materials and thus does not end up in municipal waste or nature.
