Educational activities in extra-curricular activity schools are based on curricula approved by the Ministry of Education and Research. Deep learning og musical instruments are part of the music and art curriculum.

The purpose of deep learning of musical instruments is to give students the ability to play different musical instruments, learn solfeggio, and acquire confidence on stage. Deep learning of musical instruments is offered by music schools (Nõmme Music School, Tallinn Music School and Lasnamäe Music School) where the approved curricula establish a main study period of seven years. Children are accepted through trials.

There are two price lists for Tallinn’s municipal extra-curricular activity schools:

1. for the students of the City of Tallinn and Tallinn’s contractual local government units and
2. for students whose local government of residence is not a contractual partner of the City of Tallinn.
