EUROCITIES
- It was founded in 1986.
- Tallinn has been a member since 1998. It was elected to be one of the 12 leading cities in the governing body on November 2017.
- The Tallinn City Council’s decision No. 109 (3 September 1998) to become a member of the Eurocities organisation
- Membership fee in 2022 is €22,180
- The organisation currently has over 200 members from the European Union, Norway and Iceland and 45 member cities from other European countries.
- The members regularly participate in meetings, conferences and seminars. For more information, check the events calendar on the organisation’s website.
Objectives:
- To increase the quality of life for residents in European cities;
- To promote and facilitate the member cities’ practical projects in Europe;
- To improve the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practices between European city governments;
- To represent the voice of cities at the EU level;
- To influence the European agenda in a way that the positions of the bigger cities are approved in policy making.

- The network is led by 12 elected cities (Barcelona, Braga, Florence, Ghent, Leipzig, Nantes, Oslo, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Warsaw).
Importance to Tallinn:
- Participation in the network provides opportunities to join ongoing and future IT projects and to cooperate and exchange information with EU cities in order to advise our specialists on the latest projects and innovative technological solutions for the work environment in EU cities.
- Participation in the working group on economic development allows us to find partners and contacts in EU-funded programmes for business development, exchange information on current and future funds and project ideas and advocate for the business sector in EU institutions together with other cities.
