Waste treatment plants in Tallinn

Waste treatment plants in Tallinn

20231010_jaatmejaamad_illustration.png
The waste stations and circular economy center in Tallinn are operated by the Tallinn Circular Economy Center (formerly known as the Tallinn Waste Center, as per the decision of the Tallinn City Council on September 19, 2024, decision no. 119 "Tallinna Jäätmekeskuse nime muutmine").
The name change is necessary because the institution's waste-related activities are increasingly being replaced by circular economy activities. The first circular economy center was opened on October 17, 2024, in Lilleküla at Mustjõe 40. In the future, there are plans to establish circular economy centers in Lasnamäe and Haabersti, as well as to convert the existing waste stations in Paljassaare, Pääsküla, Rahumäe, and Pärnamäe into circular economy centers.

The delivery of waste is free of charge for residents of the city of Tallinn (all city waste treatment plants, Saue municipality (Pääsküla waste treatment plant), Kiili municipality (Rahumäe and Pääsküla waste treatment plants), Viimsi municipality (Pärnamäe treatment plant).

In order to apply the reduced prices, the operator of the waste treatment plant must be able to confirm the place of residence of the waste manager to the accuracy of the local government unit.
Personal data is processed only with the consent of the waste manager. If the waste manager wants to hand over the waste for reduced prices, they must present their ID card to the operator of the waste treatment plant (the presentation of identity cards of other persons is prohibited). If the waste manager does not consent to the processing of personal data, they may hand over waste based on the price list for non-Tallinn residents. By giving the ID card to the operator of the waste treatment plant for confirming their place of residence, the waste manager gives their consent to the processing of personal data for the above-mentioned purpose. The use of identity cards of other persons is prohibited!

  • The free service does not apply to companies and residents of other municipalities (except municipalities with co-operation agreements)!
  • In case of quantitative restrictions, waste can be handed over for free once a day.

Information signs have been installed at the entrance and territory of the waste treatment plant. Bins at the waste station are labelled according to the type of waste to be collected. The waste treatment plant has self-service. An employee of the waste treatment plant assists and guides residents in handing over waste and, upon the customer's request, issues a statement on the types and quantities of waste received. You can pay with cash and bank card at waste treatment plants.
