The vision for Klindi Park

Klindi Park is an important part of the development strategy Tallinn 2035’s sustainable movement network, the objective of which is to change the approximately nine kilometre long limestone rock outcrop along the border of the City Centre, Lasnamäe and Pirita districts into a cohesive and integrated path defined by biodiversity and nature-based solutions. Klindi Park provides an opportunity to showcase the exceptional nature and the distinctiveness of the clint area by leading visitors through various regions of the area and introducing them through a number of spatial planning solutions. The entirety of the clint area route is interconnected with the existing townscape and movement network and because of that, in the future, people can travel through it section by section. Klindi Park’s objective is to become a pleasant recreational area for all.

Klindi park’s strategic objectives

  1. Preserve and value the current natural environment and showcase the exceptional nature of the clint area and its role as a symbolic Estonian landscape.

  1. Celebrate and showcase the diversity of the clint area in Tallinn that runs through the city centre, an open limestone plateau and a few forested landscapes; also communicate the cultural heritage and legacy of various regions located on the route.

  1. Provide conscious urban planning and suitable high-quality maintenance techniques for establishing the public space which offers significant green habitats and allows residents to familiarise themselves with it as well as enjoy the benefits of the green areas.
