Learning about at-home emergency supplies through floor game
At the end of last year, the floor game ‘Home Crisis Supplies’, developed by the Crisis Preparedness Sector of the Tallinn Municipal Police Office, was completed. The 3 x 3 m game board depicts a two story home with a car in front of it. The game comes with picture cards, on the back of which is written the reason the item is needed in a crisis. The purpose of the game is to teach children as young as 3 about the necessary emergency supplies to have at home if we don’t have electricity, water, heating and plumbing.
We started the new year by introducing what we think is a great game for kindergartens. The first brave kindergarten to accept our challenge was Kihnu Kindergarten. We are very grateful to them!
After spending an hour together, the children said they enjoyed playing the game. Both children as well as teachers suggested different ways to play the game. The aim of the game is to create an opportunity for children to familiarise themselves with emergency supplies and memorise them in a way that suits them.
We would also be happy to come to your kindergarten and introduce you to home emergency supplies through our game. If you are interested, feel free to contact us at tallinn.ee/kriisiennetus.
