Kristiine District Administration has put aside public fireworks in recent years and will do so this time as well. We invite the residents of the district to abandon the traditional New Year's fireworks display and instead direct resources to charity. 

The visual effect of fireworks is eye-pleasing and momentary, but the potential damage it could cause can be practical and permanent. Fireworks contain several pollutants that can affect air quality and remain in the environment for a long time. In addition, fireworks cause fear and panic in pets and wild animals, who often do not understand the origin of the explosions and bursts of light. Fireworks also increase the risk of fire and can cause accidents and injuries, especially if they fall into the wrong hands or are not used properly.

Kristiine District Administration wants to reduce the negative impact on the environment and living creatures and to ensure the safety people and animals. That's why we encourage people to try alternative ways to celebrate New Year's Eve and to direct the money for fireworks to charity.
