Cultural Centre Kaja
The Cultural Centre Kaja is a meeting place of enthusiasm, creativity and synergy that values high-quality culture. Kaja is primarily a community centre with a long history and tradition. Here, creating and consuming art and culture is available to everyone. The cultural centre is universal. It is suitable for organising music, theatre and dance events as well as conventions and running recreational activities.
The predecessor to today’s Kaja was the 400-seat cinema that opened in the Mustamäe II micro-region in 1964. The cinema was designed by Raul-Levroit Kivi. It became a beloved meeting place for the people of Tallinn and it was known around Estonia. The cinema closed in 1997 and in 2001, the Mustamäe Cultural Centre Kaja began operating in the reconstructed building. The former cinema building was demolished in 2018 and a year later in May 2019, at the same location, Kaja opened the doors of its new building.
