Pirita Recreational Centre

The Pirita Recreational Centre is a Tallinn city organisation operating in the district of Pirita Government that follows the Pirita Recreational Centre statutes

The centre operates to create recreational activities; coordinate recreational and cultural activities, health promotion and youth work; and provide social services to the people of the district who need help to improve and maintain their livelihood. The centre is made up of: Pirita Day Centre (Metsavahi Road 4); Pirita-Kose Youth Centre (Rahvakooli Road 3); and Mähe Youth Centre (Mugula Road 17a).


History
In 1952 at Merivälja Road 3 in the Pirita District, the cinema ‘Pirita’ was built. In 1985, it was reconstructed as the first cafe cinema in Estonia. On 26 September 1996, following the Tallinn City Council order number 101, the Pirita Recreational Centre operating in the Pirita District was founded in the ‘Pirita’ cinema building. The Centre was formally opened on 11 October 1999.
