Annual light festival brings magic into city parks
From September 14th to 16th, Tallinn's parks and the historic Old Town will come alive with a mesmerizing display of lights as the "Light Walks" festival returns for the 19th time. The theme of this year's outdoor light festival is "Colors of the Dark."
Guests are invited to experience light installations, light shows and live music performances in Tallinn’s Kadriorg, Pae and Tondiraba parks and the Old Town. Thousands of candles and lamps will be lit, creating colors and patterns that create a magical world within the darkness. Beautiful music will take you to a mystical realm where you'll perceive all the nuances and shades of colors, even in the dark!
Tallinn Deputy Mayor Vladimir Svet says that "The event, which originated in Kadriorg Park, has expanded its horizons in recent years. This year, in addition to the Old Town and Pae Park, the festival will also reach Tondiraba Park, where it will kick off on September 14th. The program includes performances by roller skaters and fire artists, a light show with drummers, a unique horse ballet, and, of course, captivating light installations."
On all three days the events take place from 20:00-23:00 and are free for everyone.
Guest are advised to arrive on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport as the number of parking spaces is limited. Local residents kindly request that their peace be respected.
"Light Walks" (Valgus kõnnib) is Tallinn's largest light festival, which has been providing visual delight, musical experiences, and fantastic light installations for nearly 20 years to tens of thousands of Tallinn residents and festival-goers from around the world. The festival focuses on Tallinn's city parks and green areas and the urban environment surrounding them. You can see light installations and shows, captivating music and fire performances, and discover exciting elements in the urban space that often go unnoticed.
