Chance of freezing rain persists on Tuesday

According to the latest weather forecast, snowfall is expected to begin overnight in Tallinn, transitioning to a 40-45 percent chance of freezing rain tomorrow morning. City contractors are actively engaged in preventing slippery conditions and are on heightened alert to respond to changing weather conditions. All commuters are advised to exercise caution!

"While the likelihood of freezing rain tomorrow has slightly decreased according to the latest forecast, we are continuously monitoring weather updates and keeping our maintenance partners on high alert to promptly respond to any changes and allocate resources as needed on the streets. We urge citizens to stay informed about the weather and adjust their travel plans accordingly. Pedestrians should ensure they have appropriate footwear for winter conditions and check for approaching vehicles before stepping onto crosswalks, as slippery conditions can affect braking distances," warned Tarmo Sulg, deputy director of the Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department.

Nearly 300 granular material containers have been installed at the most frequented public transportation stops for anti-slip measures, with additional grit bags placed near hazardous stairs and inclines. MUPO patrol cars are equipped with grit and are ready to assist city residents with anti-slip measures.

Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department reminds residents that many sidewalks are the responsibility of adjacent property owners for clearing, and in some cases, anti-slip measures may need to be applied multiple times a day. The city is providing free granite chips to apartment associations and homeowners – to obtain grit, apartment associations should contact their local district government office at https://www.tallinn.ee/en/districts.

For street cleaning inquiries, residents can call the Tallinn helpline at 14 410. Issues can also be reported through the maintenance and landscaping information system map application: https://hhhis.tallinn.ee/add.
