Free collection of bulky and hazardous waste in October
In October, the City of Tallinn offers residents a free and convenient way to hand over bulky waste, hazardous waste, and reusable items in an environmentally conscious manner.
On two consecutive weekends — 11–12 October and 18–19 October — the city will once again organise collection rounds for hazardous waste and reusable items in all districts.
- In each district, two collection vehicles will operate: one for hazardous waste and the other for reusable items. The vehicles will stop at each collection point for 30 minutes.
- During the rounds, hazardous waste such as leftover paint, oils, chemicals, batteries and accumulators, expired medicines, and old electronic devices (including e-cigarettes) will be accepted.
- Reusable items may include clean clothing, toys, books, and smaller working electronic devices. Detailed information on stop locations, timetables, and accepted waste and items is available at: www.tallinn.ee/kogumisringid
From 13–19 October, waste stations will host a free bulky waste collection campaign.
- Registered residents of Tallinn can bring bulky waste free of charge to the Pääsküla, Rahumäe, Pärnamäe, and Paljassaare waste stations, as well as the Lilleküla Circular Economy Centre. Each resident can hand over up to 3 m³ of bulky waste (roughly one trailer’s worth) free of charge. An ID card or driver’s licence is required to confirm residence in Tallinn. The campaign does not apply to legal entities (including housing associations).
- Bulky waste includes items such as furniture, carpets, mattresses, curtain rods, bicycles, and baby carriages. Before discarding items, residents are encouraged to consider whether they could instead be reused. The campaign does not cover construction or renovation waste, hazardous waste, or electrical and electronic equipment.
- More information on the types of bulky waste accepted during the campaign is available at tallinn.ee/et/keskkond/suurjaatmete-kampaania. Additional details about waste stations and their opening hours can be found at tallinn.ee/ringmajanduskeskus.
