Freedom Square and Tõnismäe bus stops temporarily closed during construction works

Freedom Square and Tõnismäe bus stops temporarily closed during construction works

Due to construction works, the Tõnismäe stop on Kaarli puiestee and the Freedom Square blue-coloured bus stop in the centre of Tallinn will be temporarily closed.

According to Monika Haukanõmm, Kesklinn District Elder, the construction works are part of a larger plan to increase the accessibility and safety of bike roads in the city centre and its surroundings. “The stops will be rebuilt so that the bicycle roads running along Kaarli puiestee and Freedom Square are safely separated from the mentioned public transport stops and the pavement,” explains Haukanõmm.

From 2-31 May, the Freedom Square stop with a blue waiting area will be closed. Regarding this, bus lines no. 3, 9, 16, 17, 17A, 22, 23 and 46 will temporarily stop at the Freedom Square stop located in front of the English College on Estonia puiestee; bus routes no. 21, 21B, 40, 41, 41B and 48 will stop temporarily at the Freedom Square stop located behind St John’s Church on Pärnu maantee.

From 4 May to 9 June, the Tõnismäe stop on Kaarli puiestee is temporarily closed. During the construction works, bus lines no. 24 and 42 and trolley lines no. 1 and 3 will be temporarily relocated to Kaarli puiestee at the Freedom Square stop (stop of bus lines no. 17, 17A, 23 and 40).
