From Friday to Sunday, votes for the Tallinn City Council may be cast in the voter’s district of residence
From Friday to Sunday, October 15 to 17, you can cast your vote in for the Tallinn City Council in the polling stations of your district of residence. There are a total of 95 polling places open.
This means that a resident of the Mustamäe district may vote for candidates running in the district and cast their vote in a polling station in Mustamäe. Thursday was the last day for casting a vote in a polling station outside the voter’s district of residence.
Tallinn is divided into eight constituencies which overlap with the city districts and each district has a separate list of candidates. From Friday to Sunday, a voter can vote in the City Council elections in the polling stations of their district of residence according to the population register.
According to the chairman of the Tallinn Electoral Committee, City Secretary Priit Lello, the voter is no longer connected to one specific polling station. "You can vote in any polling station within your electorate or district. Most of the polling stations are in the same location where they have been in previous elections. In addition, there are stations in larger shopping malls and tents this year," said Lello. "We ask voters to wear a mask when they come to the elections. Masks are provided in the polling station if necessary."
A valid identity document, such as an ID card, passport, residence permit card or driving license, should be taken to the polling station when going to vote.
You can vote electronically on the website https://www.valimised.ee/en from Monday, October 11 at 9 am to Saturday, October 16 at 8 pm. To vote, you need a computer with an Internet connection and an ID card or mobile ID with valid certificates and PIN1 and PIN2 code. You cannot vote using a smartphone or tablet. Electronic vote can be changed by re-voting at a polling place on Sunday, October 17.
