GALLERY: Days of National Cultures in Tallinn
From September 16-24, the ninth Days of National Cultures took place in Tallinn, featuring nearly a hundred events, including free concerts, exhibitions, language cafes, workshops, cultural evenings, and children's activities, representing almost 30 nationalities.
Tallinn Deputy Mayor Andrei Kante expressed, "It's wonderful to come together at least once a year to celebrate the national diversity of our hometown. Meeting people from different cultures encourages understanding and mutual respect. It's heartening to see that Days of National Cultures have become one of the most eagerly anticipated cultural events in the City's autumn calendar," Kante said.
During the Days of National Cultures, various exhibitions and displays, events introducing national cuisines, concerts, workshops, language cafes, lectures, cultural evenings, tours, and activities for children took place. The workshops showcasing different national cuisines like Moroccan, Brazilian, Venezuelan, Turkish, and Georgian were especially popular.
Events took place in various locations throughout Tallinn, from cultural centers to libraries, Raekoja plats (Town Hall Square), and even in Tallinn Botanic Garden. Organizers invite different ethnic communities to let them know about their presence so that even more cultures can be represented in the next event.
The Days of National Cultures have been initiated with the aim of bringing together the ethnic minorities of Tallinn and showcasing the diversity and richness of the cultures of various communities living here.
