More than 3300 pre-registered visitors visited the branches of Tallinn City Museum on Museum Sunday

Since last Sunday, pre-registration is required to visit Tallinn City Museum branches on Museum Sundays to ensure a smooth museum experience for visitors. On the first Sunday in February, a total of 3363 people visited the museum, of whom 2560 had previously purchased a free ticket.

According to Kaarel Oja, Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, the pre-registration system implemented for the first time at the Tallinn City Museum was well justified and will definitely be implemented in the future.

Heli Nurger, Director of Tallinn City Museum, said that it is a good idea to follow the experience of other countries and to adopt an arrangement that has already proved its worth in large tourist cities for the benefit of visitors. "The upcoming tourist season will increase the number of foreign visitors. The need has therefore arisen to regulate the distribution of visits on free Sundays in such a way as to ensure the smoothest and most enjoyable museum experience for all."

The museum has taken into account that there will initially be some people who have not heard of the new system, and is trying to be flexible by allowing people who have already arrived at the museum to book a free ticket on their smart device if there are free times.

A total of 3363 people visited the branches of Tallinn City Museum on 5 February, of whom 1490 visited the Kiek in de Kök Fortifications Museum, 635 the City Life Museum, 379 the Museum of Photography, 335 the Kalamaja Museum, 261 the Tallinn Russian Museum and 218 the Peter I House Museum. A total of 154 people visited the museums of the Tallinn Literary Centre on Sunday, including 78 visitors to the Vilde Museum, 41 to the Tammsaare Museum and 35 to the Und Museum. The Visitor Centre at Tallinn Song Festival Grounds was visited by 71 people on Museum Sunday, the Kaja Gallery at the Cultural Centre by 38 and the Nõmme Museum by 152.

You can get a free admission ticket, or zero ticket, to visit the branches of Tallinn City Museum on the Museum Sunday webpage. Those who are not able to get a free pass from the website can do so up to two months in advance at all branches of Tallinn City Museum.

The next free Museum Sunday will take place on 5 March. The Tallinn City Museum's website is open for bookings for both 5 March and 2 April. There is no extra cost for visitors to book a museum ticket.

All participating museums are listed on the Museum Sunday webpage.
