New portal launched to showcase extracurricular activity options

The Tallinn Education Department has launched a new webpage within its previously created leisure activities portal, providing an overview of extracurricular activity providers in the city. This platform helps young people and their parents quickly and easily find suitable extracurricular opportunities in Tallinn, including both municipal and private schools, youth centers, and sports clubs.

According to Tallinn Deputy Mayor Aleksei Jašin, extracurricular activities play a crucial role in the development and future shaping of young people. "It helps young people discover their strengths and passions while acquiring both general and specialized skills, laying the foundation for making informed career and educational choices in the future. By creating the new webpage, we have consolidated all opportunities for extracurricular activities and education in one place to make it easier for young people and their parents to find suitable activities in Tallinn. The page also allows non-Estonian-speaking parents to conveniently find suitable Estonian-language hobby groups for their children, thus supporting the transition to Estonian-language education," said Jašin.

On the webpage for extracurricular activities, tallinn.ee/huvitegevus-noortele/huvikoolid, users can find a comprehensive overview of the extracurricular and educational opportunities provided by municipal and private hobby schools, youth centers, sports clubs, and other institutions operating in Tallinn. Website users can search for extracurricular activities by institution type, field, subfield, district, price, age, and language.

The free-time options portal, created in the spring, provides information on camps and events held during school holidays as well as other activities available throughout the year, allowing young people to find enjoyable activities for diverse and enriching use of their free time. "The Tallinn free-time and extracurricular activities portal now offers an even more comprehensive overview of youth-targeted services and activities in Tallinn, helping them find new and exciting ways to spend their free time," added Jašin.

All those offering diverse and developmental activities or hobby groups in Tallinn, aimed at young people up to the age of 26, are welcome to share information on the free-time and extracurricular activities portal. Information can be submitted via email at [email protected].
