New Year's Eve celebration details at Freedom Square
Tallinn invites everyone to welcome the New Year at Freedom Square, where the celebration will feature a concert with performances by ensemble LAINE, folk-infused beats of Trad.Attack!, rapper nublu and an innovative light show titled “New Beginning.” Due to the concert, there will be traffic closures in the area and rerouted public transport lines to accommodate the festivities.
The evening kicks off at 21.00 with the ensemble LAINE, followed by Trad.Attack! at 22.00. The atmosphere will further intensify at 23.00 with the performance by nublu & gameboy tetris. As the clock strikes midnight, the event will be beautifully concluded with the mesmerizing light show “New Beginning.” Please note, the times are approximate and subject to change.
“We’re embracing a celebration that is not only spectacular but also more environmentally conscious. This light show, synchronized with exceptional music, exemplifies our commitment to celebrating in a way that respects our community and environment. We believe that this dynamic form of celebration will offer a immersive and memorable experience. We warmly invite everyone to join us at Freedom Square to experience this unique and festive event firsthand,” shares the City Centre District Governor Monika Haukanõmm.
The evening's concert will feature performances by notable Estonian artists, including ensemble LAINE, known for popularizing Estonian pop music since the 1960s, and the award-winning Trad.Attack!, which has been captivating audiences globally with their unique music. Rapper nublu, a phenomenon since his emergence in 2018, will also perform, bringing his distinctive style that has led to numerous music awards.
The light show, a visually stunning ode to the nature and land of Estonia, the green capital, and positivity, will utilize over 26 powerful laser projectors and Ayrton Cobra laser-based lights. The 18-minute performance, crafted by the Estonian Light Art Agency (EEVAA), is a tribute to Estonian music, featuring compositions from Eino Tamberg, Sander Mölder, Trad.Attack!, Kristjan Järvi, and other notable Estonian musicians, expertly woven together by music producer Sander Mölder. The artistic director and producer Caspar Lootsmann, along with laser light designer Kullar Laiapea and lighting designer Toomas Liiv, have synchronized the light show with the musical backdrop, creating a harmonious world of lasers, lights, and music.
