Nõmme’s Kadaka puiestee bridge construction progresses at full speed
The new bridge on Kadaka puiestee has reached its full height and remains on schedule. The concrete decking for the viaduct has been completed, and today, Deputy Mayor Pärtel-Peeter Pere removed the topping-out wreath from the construction site.
The previous bridge on Kadaka puiestee was deteriorating, and rebuilding it had long been deemed essential by both the city and state. The new bridge will provide updated pedestrian, cycling, and vehicle routes.
"Estonian infrastructure builders are top-notch, and we are right on schedule. Having grown up in Nõmme, I understand the temporary inconveniences these construction activities may bring to locals. To alleviate traffic congestion, I urge everyone who can to use public transport and avoid driving in Hiiu and Nõmme centers,” said Deputy Mayor Pere.
To date, the old viaduct has been demolished, and the concrete structure for the new bridge, including foundations, posts, and deck slab, has been constructed. The new reinforced concrete viaduct spans 17 meters in width, 5 meters in height, and 35 meters in length.
The viaduct will feature a 5.5-meter-wide pedestrian and bicycle path, as well as a sidewalk connecting the lower pedestrian and cycling path with the upper road.
The contractor, Atemo OÜ, is on schedule, and if all goes as planned, the viaduct will be completed in summer 2025. The total project cost is €2.1 million, funded by the City of Tallinn with co-financing from AS Tallinna Vesi.
