Participatory budgeting ideas to be presented at public discussions in all city districts
As part of Tallinn’s participatory budget initiative “A City Created Together,” 314 original ideas were submitted and will be introduced during public discussions taking place in all city districts from 21 May to 5 June.
At the discussions, residents can learn which ideas were proposed for their specific district. By that time, the districts and evaluation committee will have made a preliminary selection and chosen those that meet the participatory budget criteria to move forward. All residents are welcome to share their views and suggest ways to improve the proposals.
“For the first time, people in Tallinn will have the opportunity to discuss participatory budget ideas, provide feedback, and make them even more impactful. Two heads are better than one—get involved and let’s create a better city together,” said Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Pärtel-Peeter Pere.
According to Lea Vutt, the project manager for the participatory budget, the discussions are an important step toward a more inclusive and transparent decision-making process. “The public forums provide a platform where ideas can evolve and become clearer. Every participant’s input helps shape and refine the proposals, and contributes to deciding which ideas move forward to the final vote in September,” said Lea Vutt.
Public discussions will take place as follows:
• Kesklinn – 21 May at Gustav Adolfi Gümnaasium School (Suur-Kloostri 7)
• Kristiine – 22 May at Kristiine District Government (Metalli 9)
• Mustamäe – 28 May at Mustamäe Kultuurikeskus Kaja (E. Vilde tee 118)
• Haabersti – 29 May at Õismäe Vaba Aja Keskus (Ehitajate tee 109a/2)
• Lasnamäe – 5 June at Lasnamäe District Government (Pallasti 54)
• Nõmme – 2 June at Nõmme District Government (Valdeku 13)
• Põhja-Tallinn – 3 June at Põhja-Tallinn Community House (Kari 13)
