Pronksi street will be closed to traffic from Monday
On Monday, 10 October, Pronksi street will be closed to traffic in both directions from Narva mnt to Raua street due to reconstruction works. The intersections of Narva mnt - Pronksi and Raua - Pronksi will remain open to traffic.
The construction of Pronksi street will start from the section between Narva mnt and Raua street and will continue on the section of Pronksi street between Gonsiori and Kunderi streets. The cycle of traffic lights at the intersections of Narva mnt - Pronksi, Narva mnt - F. R. Kreutzwaldi and - Raua - F. R. Kreutzwaldi will be reconfigured. Both Raua street and Narva mnt will be used for the detour. The pavements will also remain open for pedestrians. During the works, local residents will be guaranteed access to their houses. Depending on the nature of the works, there may be short-term access restrictions, which will be communicated to residents by the contractor on an ongoing basis. Due to the large number of underground utilities to be replaced, the construction will cover the entire width of the road.
Tallinn Deputy Mayor Vladimir Svet said the street will be closed in phases, but the intersections will remain open during this phase. "The war in Ukraine has called into question the implementation of many construction plans. We are pleased that, even despite the increased costs and the shifted timetable, we can still start the long-planned reconstruction of these major streets. We understand that these works will cause inconvenience for all road users, but in doing so we will create a modern urban space for the Jõe and Pronksi streets that considers the needs of different users. In addition to better traffic conditions for pedestrians and cyclists and new landscaping, we are also building bus stops to make the streets more accessible for public transport in the future," said Svet.
Work on the section of Pronksi street between Gonsiori and Kunderi streets will start on 17 October. The section of Pronksi street between Gonsiori and Kunderi will then be closed to traffic as well. The roads will be closed along the entire width of the Pronksi street, including the exit from E.Viiralti street to Pronksi street. Both the Pronksi - Gonsiori and the Pronksi - Kunderi intersections will remain open to traffic. The detour will be via Kivisilla street and there will be no significant restrictions for pedestrians.
