Public presentation of Tulika Street design conditions results
An open discussion will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 17:30 at the Kristiine District Government office (Metalli St. 5) to present the results of the public exhibition of the design conditions for the reconstruction of Tulika Street.
"Tulika is a street with historical significance, serving as a workplace hub and a connector between various districts. According to city’s development strategy 'Tallinn 2035', it is classified as a citywide street, meaning it should be a healthy place to live, where children and grandparents can safely and pleasantly spend time. It should also be a desirable location for businesses and offices, and allow smooth traffic flow," said Deputy Mayor Pärtel-Peeter Pere."The reconstruction plans aim to thoroughly redesign the entire street space, creating separate traffic zones for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles, with adequate space for greenery," said Kristiine District Governor Renata Lukk. "Street lighting will be updated and a separate stormwater drainage system will be installed."
The city plans to reconstruct the section of Tulika Street between Endla Street and Paldiski maantee, as well as the intersection of Sõle Street and Paldiski maantee and its surroundings. The work will include renewing the road structure and street lighting, building bike paths and sidewalks, and installing stormwater drainage. Landscaping in the project area and its surroundings will also be inventoried.
The project includes physically separated one-way bike lanes on both sides of the street, with continuity ensured at intersections in all primary network directions.
The public exhibition of the design conditions for Tulika Street lasted from May 1 to 20, 2024. The open discussion on Wednesday, June 19, at 17:30 at the Kristiine District Government office (Metalli St. 5) will present the opinions and suggestions submitted during the exhibition, along with the department's positions.
The draft design conditions and additional materials can be viewed on the website tallinn.ee/tulika.
According to the draft, the design of Tulika Street will consider the general plan of the Kristiine district, which includes bike paths and street greenery; the Tallinn Bicycle Strategy 2018-2027, which plans a bike path on Tulika Street; detailed plans being prepared for the eastern side of Tulika Street; and other existing detailed plans.
