Seven times more waste than usual was brought to waste stations during campaign week
During the free bulky waste disposal week on 21-27 August, seven times more bulky waste was brought to waste stations than on an average August week.
During the campaign week in August, bulky waste was brought to waste stations 2201 times with a total of nearly 2154.07 cubic meters of waste. Two weeks earlier, from 7 to 13 August, a total of 281.28 cubic meters of waste was brought.“Tallinn residents are actively taking part in the campaign week, as shown by the large amount of bulky waste deposited,” said Tallinn Deputy Mayor Joosep Vimm. “We have seen high interest since the first bulky waste campaign week from last year. In the upcoming years, we plan to construct new waste stations in Tallinn, alongside circular economy centres, to ensure that disposing of waste in the right place is as convenient and easy as possible. Nevertheless, I would like to emphasise that not every leftover or damaged item should be considered trash. Items that are no longer usable can be taken to our reuse rooms free at any time, and we have also recently opened a repair workshop for small items in need of fixing at the Pääsküla Waste Station.”
Throughout the campaign week, each Tallinn resident has the chance to deposit up to 3 cubic meters of bulky waste, meaning that it should fit within a car trailer. Bulky waste can be handed over as part of organised waste transport. You can arrange for the transportation of bulky waste through a waste disposal company in your area. Payments must be made according to the price list. Waste disposal companies are required to transport your bulky waste within three days, starting from the time of placing the order.
