Tall Ships Races 2024 in Tallinn awaits hundreds of volunteers

From July 11-14, 2024, Tallinn is hosting Europe’s largest sail training ship regatta, the Tall Ships Races, bringing nearly 50 large sailing ships to three of the city's harbors. In preparation for this major summer event, the city invites applications for volunteer positions at the Tall Ships Races.

Marje Tõemäe, the project manager of The Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024, highlights the event as a special and unique occasion, being Europe's largest sailing regatta. It will bring over 50 large sailing ships to three harbors in Tallinn. "We aim to provide a thrilling and varied program for both the participants of the regatta and all visitors. There will be opportunities to visit the sailing ships, enjoy performances by Estonia's top artists, and participate in a variety of activities on land and at sea," stated Tõemäe.

During the Tall Ships Races in 2024, Tallinn will host a lively maritime festival at Lennusadam, Noblessner, and Vanasadam harbors. The event promises an array of activities both on land and at sea. Emphasizing eco-friendliness, the event will focus on marine conservation, ensuring a sustainable celebration for all attendees.

Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024 is calling for up to 500 volunteers to ensure the smooth running of this major event both before and during the occasion. Volunteers will gain valuable experience in organizing an international event, forge new friendships across seas, and have an exclusive chance to explore the interiors of some of the world’s largest sailing ships.

Volunteer applications are open until all positions are filled, or until April 25, 2024. Candidates can apply starting from the age of 16.

In addition to Tallinn, the 2024 Tall Ships Races will be hosted by Klaipėda in Lithuania, Helsinki and Turku in Finland, Mariehamn in Åland, and Szczecin in Poland. The main organizer of the Tall Ships Races is Sail Training International, with the Tallinn leg coordinated by the City of Tallinn, the Estonian Maritime Museum, Port of Tallinn, Noblessner marina, and the Estonian Youth Sail Training Association.

Volunteers are needed for roles including liaison officers, information assistants, mascots, dockworkers, loaders, eco-warriors, course influencers, and land sailors.
