Tallinn Day festivities culminate today with a concert-performance, a bike ride, and an afterparty
Today, May 18, the festivities for Tallinn Day continue, celebrating 776 years since the acquisition of Lubeck Law. Events last all day and culminate in the evening with the free concert-performance "Diverse City" in Toompea Park, followed by an afterparty at Patarei Sea Fortress.
"Tallinn Day marks a historic moment that connected us centuries ago with the legal, cultural, and economic sphere of European cities. With these festivities, we honor our hometown and its rich history, which the grand concert-performance 'Diverse City' is dedicated to. I invite all fellow citizens to take part in this unique opportunity," said Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski.
The concert-performance "Diverse City" tells the story of the city's various eras, its people, and the cultural richness that together form the face of modern Tallinn. The performance features original musical arrangements that blend the past and present as well as various musical styles. Performers include Heidy Tamme, Mihkel Raud, Tanel Padar, Synne Valtri, Tanja Mihhailova-Saar, and Reket. The performance is directed by Veiko Tubin with music directed by Siim Aimla. For Tallinn Day, the respectable Old Thomas descends from the Town Hall tower to see how the townspeople are faring (portrayed by Mart Toome). The performance will take place in Toompea Park from 20:00 to 22:00, with gates open to visitors from 19:00.
From 20:00 to 23:00, the Tallinn Day afterparty at Patarei Sea Fortress wraps up the day. Doors open at 20:00 with DJ Eisi starting the party, followed by performances by Púr Múdd and Grete Paia at 22:00. Food and drinks will be available on site, and outside provisions are not allowed.
For the first time, Tallinn Night is also celebrated as part of Tallinn Day, starting with the 74th Tour de'ÖÖ group bike ride. Participants gather at Tondiraba Park at 19:30, and the group departs at 20:00. After a leisurely 12 km ride, the finish is at Freedom Square where indie band Röövel Ööbik will perform at 21:30.
Tallinn Day activities continue from morning to late evening, and all events are free. The full program can be found online at the Tallinn Day Program 2024 and on Facebook under the keyword "Tallinn Day 2024".
