Tallinn holds summer swimming lessons for children once again
For the third year in a row, the city of Tallinn is offering children aged 7-10 the opportunity to take part in swimming lessons. The lessons will be taking place in July and August at three city swimming pools and are intended for both beginner as well as intermediate swimmers.
“The summer offers opportunities for spending time by various bodies of water,” said Deputy Mayor Tiit Terik. “An elementary swimming ability is very important if one wants to have fun in the water. The purpose of the swimming lessons is to develop sports enthusiasts and self-confident children, so that they have the necessary skills to be in the water safely. Beginner swimming lessons are a part of school curriculums, but these summer lessons help reinforce what has already been learned or learn the basics. This summer, in addition to the beginners’ lessons, one can also take part in intermediate lessons.”
The month-long lessons for 7-10-year-old children will be taking place in July and August at the Õismäe, Nõmme and Sõle swimming pools. More information about the lesson plan can be found on the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department homepage. The lessons will be held in groups of 12. The swimming lessons will cost a total of 25 euros per child and one will need to pre-register to participate.
Children’s summer swimming lessons are part of the series of Tallinn summer training events organised by the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department in cooperation with the Education Department.
