Tallinn honors athletes who competed in the Olympic and Paralympic Games
The City of Tallinn recognized the athletes and their coaches from Tallinn who competed in the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games during a formal reception held at the Town Hall.
According to Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski, participating in the Olympic Games is a career highlight for any athlete, requiring dedication, determination, and a strong work ethic. "Our athletes have brought honor and recognition to Estonia and Tallinn, and we are very proud of their achievements. They have proven that determination and hard work lead to world-class results," Ossinovski added.
The city’s recognition and gratitude were awarded to Johannes Erm (coach: Holger Peel), Eneli Jefimova (coach: Henry Hein), Klen Kristofer Kaljulaid (coach: Vladimir Stepanjan), Peeter Olesk (coach: Matthias Hahn), Heiki Nabi (coaches: Ivar Kotkas and Levi Earl), My Relander (coach: Peter Geerink), Karl-Martin Rammo (coach: Rein Ottoson), Mart Seim (coach: Alar Seim), Janek Õiglane (coach: Ryan Baily), Matz Topkin (coach: Kaire Indrikson), Susannah Kaul (coach: Mart Mandel), and Robin Liksor (coach: Mart Mandel).
Although no Olympic medals were brought home this time, the athletes' efforts and results were still impressive. For example, decathlete Janek Õiglane placed 5th, Johannes Erm 6th, and Eneli Jefimova finished 7th in the 100-meter breaststroke. At the Paralympic Games, swimmer Matz Topkin also placed 7th in the 50-meter backstroke in the S4 class.
The Paris Summer Olympic Games took place from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8, 2024, with a total of 12 athletes from Tallinn competing. The City of Tallinn honored and supported the Olympic athletes and their coaches with a total of €36,000.
