Tallinn is looking for a new name for its participatory budget

Tallinn is looking for a new name for its participatory budget

The new name or slogan should be short, catchy, and invite everyone to take part in shaping their living environment.

Following a comprehensive update over the past year, the participatory budget process has become more user-friendly and inclusive, and the name change is part of this transformation.

What is the participatory budget? Its goal is to increase civic engagement and inspire residents to think about ways to improve our shared living spaces. Every local resident can submit ideas they believe would make our city better. Over the past four years, thousands of Tallinn residents have contributed creative ideas for urban spaces, resulting in 24 unique projects.

The new name should be:

  • Simple and memorable
  • An easy-to-pronounce phrase or short sentence
  • Reflective of the participatory budget’s essence
  • Clear and distinct, avoiding confusion with other initiatives

We welcome new name suggestions until January 5 at tallinn.ee/nimekorje.

All ideas are welcome! As a thank-you, Tallinn’s Urban Environment and Public Works Department will draw a prize winner from among the name contributors on January 6.
