Tallinn Marathon will cause changes to traffic

Tallinn Marathon will draw around 20,000 sports enthusiasts from over 70 countries to the districts of Põhja-Tallinn, Kesklinn, and Haabersti from 8 to 10 September. This will lead to temporary changes in Tallinn's traffic and public transport.

Traffic will be closed or disrupted along the race route and its vicinity, which includes Kopli tänav, Tööstuse tänav, Kalaranna tänav, Ristiku tänav, Toompuiestee, Paldiski maantee, Kolde puiestee and Vabaõhumuuseumi tee. If you intend to travel through these areas, you are advised to allocate extra time for your journey and exercise patience or choose for an alternative route to your destination Motor vehicle drivers should pay attention to temporary traffic signs and follow the signals and advice provided by traffic controllers. Local residents, commuters and pedestrians are advised to familiarise themselves with the traffic information and maps early in advance. If possible, consider scheduling your journeys before or after the competition and stay attentive during the event.

On Saturday, 9 September, tram services on lines number 2 and 6 will be suspended from 09:30 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:15. On Sunday, 10 September, these lines will be closed from 09:00 to 16:00. There will also be changes to bus and trolley lines that run along the competition's route. Detailed traffic plans, routes and stops can be accessed on the website http://transport.tallinn.ee.

19:00 Nike Youth Run 5 km

During the start of the run and to allow participants to pass, traffic will be temporarily closed on the following street sections:
  • Kaarli puiestee, in the direction out of the city from 18:55 to 19:05;
  • Toompea tänav and Falgi tee from 19:00 to 19:10;
  • Toompuiestee (Paldiski maantee-Rannamäe tee) from 19:00 to 19:15;
  • Rannamäe tee (Toompuiestee-Pikk tänav) from 19:00 to 19:25;
  • Pikk tänav (Rannamäe tee-Olevimägi tänav) from 19:00 to 19:35;
  • Tolli tänav, Laboratooriumi tänav, Suurtüki tänav (Laboratooriumi tänav-Lai tänav), Lai tänav (Suurtüki tänav-Oleviste tänav) and Oleviste tänav from 19:00 to 19:30;
  • Olevimägi tänav from 19:05 to 19:35;

  • Toompuiestee (Rannamäe tee-Falgi tee) in the direction towards the port will be closed to traffic on the lane closest to the Old Town from 11:00 to 16:30;

Licensed traffic regulators will be managing traffic during the event. The competition is ensured by traffic regulators, security personnel and track judges. Residents, emergency vehicles and transportation owned by local institutions will be granted passage based on the assessment made by the regulators and their decisions and signals.
