Tramway construction alters Kopli and city centre tram services until mid-August

Tramway construction alters Kopli and city centre tram services until mid-August

Due to the Old City Harbour tramway construction on Põhja puiestee near Linnahall, tram services to Kopli will be reorganized until mid-August. Trams No. 2 and 5 will not be in operation, and a temporary tram line No. 1 will serve passengers between the Kopli and Linnahall stops during this period.

During this time, tracks and overhead networks will be installed on Põhja puiestee as part of the Old City Harbour tramway construction, along with underground communications. No temporary bus lines are planned to replace the Kopli-bound trams, as the existing public transport network, together with the temporary tram line to Linnahall, offers sufficient alternatives for travel from Põhja-Tallinn to the city centre.

Deputy Mayor Kristjan Järvan advises passengers to use Balti jaam as the primary transfer point during the works, where several bus transfer options are available. "We continuously monitor the occupancy of buses and can respond promptly if needed. If necessary, we will increase the capacity and frequency of bus lines departing from Balti jaam that replace the tram. To better plan your daily trips, we have prepared recommendations for passengers on which bus lines to use as replacements for the trams," Järvan stated.

For those traveling by tram from Põhja-Tallinn, the most convenient transfer location is Balti jaam. For tram line No. 2, it is recommended to use bus line No. 2 towards the Bus Station and Ülemiste, departing from the Balti jaam public transport stop. For tram line No. 5, bus line No. 73 heading towards Vana-Lõuna, departing from the Linnahall stop, and bus line No. 3, which departs from the Balti jaam transport stop, are recommended. For tram line No. 1 towards Kadriorg, it is suggested to use bus lines No. 8 and 66, which depart from both Balti jaam and Linnahall stops. Additionally, tram lines No. 3 and 4 will be increased in frequency, allowing passengers to transfer to these trams at the Viru and Vabaduse väljak stops.
