Children's mornings

Throughout September at Kalamaja library, ‘Finnish Culture and Children’s Literature’ library lessons.
We will be welcoming Year 1-4 students at the library. The library lessons discuss Finland and introduce valuable items of children’s literature. The lessons must be pre-booked with the library, so please send an email to the following address: kalamaja@tln.lib.ee


19-23 September, Tallinn Central Library
A playful introduction to children of national minorities, with the help of library lessons and handicraft workshops. For example, we will be reading the fairy-tales of various nations and solving puzzles with a travelling bear and the help of the book, ‘Rännukaru seiklused soome-ugri maailmas’. Children will also get to colour-in the folk costumes of various nations. There will also be a quiz for young people, recommending the literature of various countries. Library lessons must be pre-booked with the library, so please send an email to the following address: laste@tln.lib.ee.

Toddlers morning. A fairy-tale morning with fairy-tales from various countries. In Estonian.


17 September at 11:00, Pelguranna Library
Children's morning. We will be getting to know the customs, folk costumes, and national dishes of various countries and nations. In Estonian and Russian.


17 September at 12:00, the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages at Tallinn Central Library
Toddlers morning. We will be introducing thematic books and playing games with the tiniest members of the family. In Estonian and Russian.


17 September, 12:00 to 13:00, Nõmme Library
Children's morning with folk games. We will be getting to know the folk games of various nations which can be played outside if the weather is good enough, or indoors if it is not. Children aged 6-12 are welcome to join. In Estonian and English.


17 September at 13:00, Torupilli Library
An event for children to introduce Peru. An employee will be introducing Peru and making decorative Peruvian headwear with the children. In Estonian. For registration, please send an email to torupilli@tln.lib.ee.


17 September, 13:00 to 15:00, Kalamaja Library and Kalamaja Museum
Introduction to children’s books which describe various indoor games and outdoor games for children. We will start at Kalamaja Library at 13:00, and will move on to play outdoor games in the area outside Kalamaja Museum (if the weather is bad then play will be moved back indoors).


17 September at 14:00, the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages at Tallinn Central Library
A handicraft workshop in Estonian for those children who speak a foreign language as their mother tongue. We will be crafting various items which have been inspired by various national cultures while also introducing related literature.


17 September at 15:00, Männiku Library
The ‘Library Friends’ children’s reading club. We will be getting to know the culture of national minorities. In Estonian.


22 September at 15:00, Torupilli Library

23 September at 10:00, the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages at Tallinn Central Library
The librarians will be staging a puppet show based on the English folk fairy-tale, ‘Thee Little Pigs’. All children aged 4-10 are welcome, approximate duration one hour. No registration required.


24 September at 11:00, Pelguranna Library

24 September, 11:00 to 12:00, Paepealse Library
Mouse Dad Hubert’s story morning for children. We will be reading Irish children’s literature. We will welcome children aged 6-9 with different mother tongues to a story morning where we will be practising Estonian with the help of Mouse Dad Hubert, going on an adventure in the wonderful world of books.


24 September at 14:00, the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages at Tallinn Central Library
