Amendment of birth entry
When writing an application for paternal filiation acceptance, both the mother and father of the child must be present. Pursuant to subsection 4 (5) of the Names Act, the official shall be obliged to find out the child’s consent or opinion if the child receives the father’s surname. A child who is at least 14 years of age must give personal consent to paternal filiation.

Have the source document for the birth registration amendment with you: the adoption judgement, the judgement concerning paternal filiation establishment or the judgement verifying incorrectness of the entry or the marriage certificate. To write the joint patrnal filiation application, both the mother and the father have to be present.
Granting of consent:
- If the child is given the father’s surname, a pre-school child must give his or her consent on the spot;
- If the child is given father’s surname with the paternal filiation application, consent is required from the child if he or she is ten years old or older. If the surname is unchanged, the consent for paternal filiation is required from a child who is 14 years old or older.

Result
The data of the people in on birth registration will be changed. As the data on the birth registration has changed, the old birth registration is taken away and the new one will be given as replacement.
