Birth benefit for residents of Tallinn

We recommend using electronic means instead of direct contact.

In order to obtain the birth benefit for residents of Tallinn, the child must meet the following requirements:

  • their registered place of residence since their birth has continually been Tallinn
  • according to the population register, the place of residence of at least one parent was continually Tallinn for one year prior to the birth of the child, and the place of residence of the other parent was Tallinn before the child’s birth. Note: In the case of the other parent, the time of registration is not important: it is sufficient if it was done before the child’s birth
  • according to the population register, the place of residence of the child’s single parent was continually Tallinn for one year prior to the child’s birth.

The application can be submitted by the child's legal representative within six months from the day of the child's birth.

An adoptive parent and the child’s guardian are also entitled to the benefit. The application must be submitted within six months of the court order for guardianship or adoption entering into force, provided that the child is no more than 18 months old at the time of it entering into force. An adoptive parent or guardian does not have to be a resident of Tallinn.
