Extractions from the Population Register
From January 1, 2023, the procedure for issuing data from the population register will change and a state fee will be charged for some extracts.
- An extract from the population register is issued only by the Tallinn Vital Statistics Depratment and City office (Vabaduse väljak 7). For this you need to pay a state fee of 10 euros.
Tallinn district governments do not issue extracts from the population register.
Data about yourself, your minor children and persons under guardianship can be viewed free of charge on the portal of the electronic population register.
- You can still get a certificate of residence free of charge from the Tallinn District Governments, the Tallinn Vital Statistics Depratment and City office (Vabaduse väljak 7).
If your place of residence is outside of Tallinn, you can request a certificate of residence from the Tallinn Vital Statistics Depratment and City office (Vabaduse väljak 7) and for this you need to pay a state fee of 10 euros.
- The owner of the premises can still receive a list of residents free of charge if the premises are located in Tallinn and are issued by the Tallinn District Governments, the Tallinn Vital Statistics Depratment and City office (Vabaduse väljak 7).
If your premises are located outside of Tallinn, you can request a list of residents from the Tallinn Vital Statistics Depratment, City office (Vabaduse väljak 7) and for this you need to pay a state fee of 10 euros.
The electronic communication should be used instead of direct contact in population register proceedings. Please send the applications to our email: [email protected] .
Making extracts from the population register and issuing the extracts to individuals about them, their minor child, ward and/or deceased spouse.
It is not necessary to submit an extract from the population register to a state or local government agency because they have access to the register.
In case of a legitimate interest pleaase use our service Requesting data from Population Registry of Estonia. We can issue data about other persons, who are not your minor child, ward or a deceased spouse.
Where to start
An extract from the population register can be ordered through the e-population register at www.rahvastikuregister.ee .
The service is provided in accordance with the terms of use of the e-population register.
Through the e-population register, You can order an extract from the population register for Yourself, Your minor children and wards.
You cannot order an extract from the population register on the basis of legitimate interest through the this e-service.
Personal identification
Your identity is identified when You log in to the state portal.
Application reception confirmation
The submitted order can be seen in the "My applications" view of the e-population register "Dashboard".
Payment
The state fee is paid within the e-service.
Result
You will receive the desired document.
When the result is unsatisfactory
Follow the instructions to get the desired result.
The technical user support of the e-population register works on weekdays between 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. by phone at 612 4444 or by e-mail at [email protected] .
Where to start
If you are in need of information from the population register about yourself, your underage children, someone under your guardianship and/or a deceased spouse (e.g. abroad), fill in the application form, save it, sign the file digitally and send it to [email protected] .
If someone other than you will come to collect the information, please include their personal data in the cover letter.
If you wish to receive the information in digital format, you must make sure that it is in PDF format and that it has been signed digitally by a public servant. When printing on paper, the information will not have the public servant’s signature or seal.
Payment
A state fee of 10 euros must be paid for an extract from the population register.
A multilingual standard form can be added to information in Estonian that proves place of residence or gives proof of life or marital status. Please note! Usable only in the European Union. Attention: this can only be used to prove alive status or residence or marital status.
The state fee for issuing the multilingual standard form attached to the Estonian population register extract is 20 euros.
The state fee can be paid on location in cash or by card or sent beforehand to the bank account of the Ministry of Finance:
