Marriage registration

No appointments are booked for application submission

Upon concluding a marriage in Estonia, Estonian legislation shall be applied to the marriage proceedings. A marriage is contracted between a man and a woman (Family Law Act §1 (1)).

A marriage is contracted in the presence of a vital statistics official.

The Tallinn Vital Statistics Department does not advise on the time of marriage and documents by the phone. The basis of counseling is the submission of an application, which provides the basis for processing personal data.

It is possible to conclude a marriage at the Tallinn Vital Statistics Department:

* IN THE HALL of the Tallinn Vital Statistics Department - Due to the demand, marriage registrations take place from Wednesday to Saturday in the halls of the Tallinn Vital Statistics Office. The ceremony can be in Estonian, Russian, English, Italian, Spanish or Greek.

* OUTSIDE THE PREMISES OF the Vital Statistics Department - In agreement with the Tallinn Vital Statistics Department, can invite an official to perform a marriage ceremony in a special place and day. Additional information about this service.

The ceremony can be in Estonian, Russian, English, Italian, Spanish or Greek. 

Price list (prices include VAT 20%), plus a state fee of €30 for making a marriage registration:

In Tallinn, outside the premises  400,00€
Outside Tallinn, in Harju County 500,00€
Outside Harju County 700,00€

* IN THE OFFICE - without the participation of guests, the formalization of documents takes place in the official's officeroom, in Estonian, if necessary, an interpreter must be included. The state fee for registering a marriage is 30€.

If the marriage ceremony takes place with the participation of people with mobility disabilities, then a hall adapted for the ceremony is in the adjacent building or in an office on the first floor of the main building, where access is guaranteed.

On public holidays and Sundays, marriages are not concluded in the premises of the Tallinn Vital Statistics Department.
