Supporting High-performance Youth Sports
The aim of supporting high-performance youth sports is to enable 11–19- and in some cases up to 23-year-old athletes, whose place of residence, according to the Estonian population register, is Tallinn, to engage in high-performance sports.
Based on the athlete’s needs, prerequisites and level of preparation, the sports division of the Culture & Sports Department organises the additional training necessary for high-achieving athletes to meet their goals, providing in-depth knowledge of the specific sport and ensuring international competitive performance.
Grant agreements for the 2021-2023 period have been signed and support will be provided for the following sports: épée fencing, figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, ice hockey, karate, combined track and field events, speed skating, basketball, handball, biathlon, wrestling, boxing, sailing, beach volleyball, badminton, taekwondo, tennis, swimming, volleyball and a combined group of different individual sports, in total 501 high-achieving young athletes..
