Main tasks
- preserving, protecting and acknowledging the city's unique cultural history and national cultural traditions;
- analysing the cultural life of the city, describing the most important problems in the area, making proposals to the city government for their resolution and participating in their resolution;
- consulting the organisers of the city's cultural events, representatives of non-profit associations and societies. Supporting non-profit associations, cultural societies, hobby groups and projects within the limits of the funds allocated in the board's budget;
- consulting the city's cultural institutions, developing their financing principles;
- initiating cultural projects to design the city's traditions;
- organising the city's traditional cultural projects and/or participating in their organisation;
- supporting the cultural activities of ethnic minorities in Tallinn;
- organising cooperation with the cultural institutions, non-profit associations, foundations, societies, companies and residents of the city;
- organising the distribution of information about cultural events and institutions in Tallinn, including preparing the city's cultural calendar and making it available to the public;
- participating in international cultural projects;
- preparing and implementing the cultural strategy (development plan) of the city;
- managing the databases of the collection of art, sculptures and other assets of artistic value of Tallinn.
