Tallinn named among the Intelligent Communities

Tallinn named among the Intelligent Communities

The Top Seven Intelligent Communities were announced at the Building the Broadband Economy summit in New Work, on 20–22 May 2007, and Tallinn was the first city in Eastern Europe to be included in this group.

The first place was won by the city of Waterloo, Canada, that had been nominated in the previous year as well.

Based on Tallinn’s presentation, the topics that aroused the most interest included our e-School, the ID-based ticketing system for public transport, and mobile parking. A picture of the award is available here.

According to the Mayor, Edgar Savisaar, Tallinn intends to continue participating in the competition.

“Our firm target is to be named among successful candidates and perhaps even be the best,” Savisaar said.
