Each spring, the US cruise magazine, Dream World Cruise Destinations (DWCD), recognises the best tourism destinations, ports and service providers. Tallinn was again among the chosen destinations in 2006.

The nominees are selected by cruise companies based on the feedback from their customers. Winners are traditionally announced at the Seatrade Miami Convention in March.

For the season of 2006, Tallinn was recognised in two categories:

• Best Destination Experience – Independent Sightseeing (destination where the quality of the experience derives from passengers making their own arrangements for their time ashore);
• Destination with Best Tour Guides (destination where the quality and professionalism of guides is considered outstanding).

DWCD has recognised Tallinn in previous years as well. For several years in a row, Tallinn was singled out as Most Improved Destination for developing its infrastructure. The work of Estonian guides was now recognised for the second year running. Until February 2007, the DWCD magazine was published by Euromoney, and the new publisher is Ashcroft & Associates. The editorial board and content of the magazine remained unchanged.
