Allowance for first-graders (Allowance for the child going to school for the first time)

E-applications can be submitted from 12 September in theTallinn self-service

A child is eligible for the allowance for first-graders if all of the following criteria are met:

  • his place of residence is the City of Tallinn,
  • he starts to acquire basic education for the first time,
  • he has been enrolled in a school that operates in Tallinn,
  • the place of residence of one of his parents has continuously been the City of Tallinn at least since 1 January of the calendar year when he starts to acquire basic education,
  • the parent living at the same address as the child has filed the application.

 

Application – the allowance application must be filed between 12 September and 30 November.

Awarding – the allowance is awarded if all eligibility criteria are met.

Payment – the allowance (320 euros) is paid in two instalments:
• 50% (160 euros) within 30 days of filing the application,
• 50% (160 euros) in June next year provided that all eligibility criteria continue to be met.

 

  • Enter the self-service portal and submit an application. The precondition for submission of the application through e-service is that the applicant’s data in the Population Register comply with the terms of receipt of the allowance.

    The district elder solves disputes related to service provision. It is possible to contact the City Government or the county governor if one cannot agree with the district elder's administrative legislation.
