Interval care services

The aim is to prevent coping difficulties in the family and to enable the parents to actively participate in social life. With the provision of the service, the child is ensured with appropriate care, feeding, raising, development and the organization of medical care, corresponding with the child's age and condition. The service is provided under a contract, concluded between a parent, guardian or contractual carer, the child's local district administration and the children's home. To receive the service, the parent, guardian or contractual carer will submit an application to the social welfare department of the district administration that will become an inseparable part of the contract.

The service can be used in parts. Each use of the service will be agreed upon by the parent, guardian, or carer with the children's home, usually two weeks before the service is used. If the child needs transportation for the disabled, while the service is used, the parent or carer will submit an corresponding application to the local social welfare department, two weeks before the service is used.
Tallinn Social Welfare and Health Care Department will establish the price of the service and the amount of cost-sharing. The parent, guardian or contractual carer will pay for the service after the service has been used, according to the bill from the children's home. Every child has the right to use the service according to his/her needs and the capabilities of the children's home, but usually not longer than 30 calendar days per year. Special occasions will be agreed upon between a parent, the guardian or contractual carer, the child's local social welfare department and the children's home and the Tallinn Social Welfare and Health Care Department.
